Why balcony mounting is a structural question
A standard panel presents a large surface to the wind. The critical forces are not only its static weight but uplift, repeated gust loading and the leverage transferred into a railing or wall. A product described as “tool-free” still needs a suitable substrate and a documented design wind range.
Glass balustrades, corroded steel, decorative aluminium and masonry parapets require different fixings. Do not drill or clamp until ownership, waterproofing and load capacity are known.
Coastal exposure on the Costa del Sol
Salt, humidity and strong Levante or Poniente episodes accelerate corrosion and test cable entries, clamps and fasteners. Ask for compatible metals, outdoor cable ratings and maintenance intervals. Inspect after severe weather and replace damaged or loosened parts immediately.
Panels above streets, gardens or neighbouring terraces need a secondary-retention strategy where the mounting manufacturer requires it.

Cable and electrical placement
Keep connectors away from standing water and direct strain. Protect the AC cable from door frames and sharp metal, preserve drip loops, and locate the microinverter within its temperature and weather rating. Never route an extension lead permanently through a partly closed window.
A practical stop/go test
Stop if the mounting relies on improvised ties or ballast, if the railing moves, if no wind documentation matches the panel, or if failure could drop equipment into an occupied area. A smaller system securely mounted is more valuable than a larger unsafe one.
